Leith James is a nationally recognised leader in the field of sound therapy, with over 15 years of experience spanning education, trauma recovery, and corporate wellness facilitation. As the founding President and Strategic Director of the Australian Sound Healers Association Ltd (ASHA), Leith has been instrumental in shaping ethical and nationally aligned training pathways for sound therapy practitioners across Australia.
Leith’s work bridges ancient traditions and practical wellness applications. Trained by Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux (USA) and certified as a Tuning Fork Practitioner through SomaEnergetics, he brings a grounded and trauma-aware approach to sound facilitation. He also holds a professional diploma from the British Academy of Sound Therapy.
Leith was involved in live blood analysis research, which demonstrated that gong sound sessions can lead to reduced inflammation and increased cellular hydration. He also participated in a Guinness World Record attempt for the world’s largest sound healing session, showcasing his commitment to expanding public awareness of sound therapy’s benefits.
Over the past decade and a half, Leith has led hundreds of sound journeys, workshops, retreats, and corporate wellness programs, supporting diverse audiences from small community groups to large-scale professional environments. As ASHA’s Lead Gong Trainer, he delivers Level 1 group facilitation and Level 2 practitioner training to students across the country.
In his leadership role, Leith oversees curriculum development for ASHA’s Certificate III and IV qualifications, supervises national trainers and assessors, and plays a key role in aligning ASHA’s programs with professional standards, quality assurance, and national compliance frameworks.
Through his work with ASHA, Leith is helping to establish a national benchmark for sound healing and sound therapy training in Australia, ensuring practitioners are well-equipped, ethically grounded, and recognised at a professional level.
